About Me

Aimee Davis (she/her) was born on February 22, 1988 (Pisces) in a little town in west-central Pennsylvania called Dubois, which is just outside Punxsutawney (the place with the weather-forecasting groundhog). Not long after her birth, her family moved to the Philadelphia suburbs, a place she still lovingly calls home (battery-throwing, Santa-hating sports fans and all).

Growing up, she loved school, reading, and all things magic, and dreamed of one day becoming an author. To make that dream come alive, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she majored in English and minored in creative writing. There, her love of fantasy was temporarily stomped out and replaced by Chekhov, Faulkner, Hemingway, and a bunch of other dead, white dudes writing about things that were not at all magical, or happy.

After a meandering path that did not result in writing The Next Great American Novel or getting an MFA from Iowa (much to her professors’ dismay), she eventually found her way back to her first great love: fantasy. And after many more meandering years, she found first a mentor via #PitchWars as a 2021 mentee, then the perfect partner to go questing with in her agent, Keir Alekseii (Azantian Literary Agency).

Aimee currently writes in a variety of genres and age groups but primarily focuses on adult and young adult fantasy. While her stories can be broad in range and content, moving from campy fairytale retellings to dark stories of rebellion, they almost always center people like her (and those she loves), meaning neurodiversity in many forms, mental illness, bisexuality, relationships that are not always shown in fiction (including found family and deep platonic friendships), and a diverse cast of characters who are more often than not messy and complicated as hell.

When not writing or reading, you will probably find Aimee working her day job in software, volunteering for an animal rescue of some kind (if she’s not busy creating her own), or hanging out with her menagerie which currently consists of four cats, a German shepherd, an English bulldog, an untold number of fish, and one human partner.
